Over Dyed

after a few false starts

the background is nearly finished

Mom has a spot on the wall

in her sewing room picked out

for display

one of the false starts

was the wool on the left

over dyed and not quite

the right shade

looks a little too green

so I dug through all my containers of wool

and found the perfect as-is yardage

hundreds of skeins of light, bright and ugly floss

over dyed with RIT tan dye

and wound on to my frugal spools

(some were gifted to me-some cut from cards I've received)

ready for punching and stitching

Melrose still likes this cozy warm spot

when he's sound asleep Olivia sneaks up

to sniff his paws and tail

poised to run if he wakes up though...

  3. OOOOOooooo, love the rug Kelley! Your mom is going to enjoy it. I have some of the background wool you used and it's a good one. Great idea for winding your over dyed floss. And Melrose is such a handsome boy. I can just see Olivia sneaking up on him!! Hugs, Lori

Your rug for your Mom is sweet as pie! Perfect background wool is always a nice thing to have! That's what I am having trouble keeping in my stash....especially the lighter shades.
