yesterday was a laughing kind of day
first mom and I were "singing" our bed times stories
from when I was little...
"did you ever think when a hearse went by
that some day you are doomed to die
they'll wrap you up in a big white sheet
and toss you down one hundred feet
the worms crawl in
the worms crawl out
in your nose and out your mouth"
-they're coming to take you away
-Lizzie Borden took an axe
-I'm a lonely little Petunia in an onion patch
-Miss Mary Mack
yes, all the uplifting favorites
our voices are terrible
we can't carry a tune
but there was laughter
a new book for Mom
she can barely socialize at the table when she has a good book
we love this author
yesterday she was crying and gasping for breath
when reading a certain passage
about tying his little brother to the toilet
and locking the bathroom door
she had to read it out loud for me
so happy to see your sweet mommy smiling ~ you are both in my heart!!

ReplyDeleteI'm sure it does your heart good to hear your mom laugh.
ReplyDeleteHappy June,

What a wonderful photo and great to see her smiling, I know it must have made your day to spend those happy moments with her. The magazine sounds wonderful for your mom, something that she enjoys and interacts with you, as well.

ReplyDeleteYour mom has a real sense of humour...MOL
Good morning! A wonderful story...it is this type of day that makes it easier to get through the bad days.
ReplyDeleteYou made me laugh, too. Love the song, brought back fun memories. Here's my mom's version.
ReplyDeleteWhen ere you see a hearse go by you know that someday you're gonna die.
They put you in a big black box and cover you over with gravel and rocks. And all goes well for 'bout a week and then the box begins to leak. The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out, in your mouth and out your snout.
Your mama is so cute just like mine was!
