Making Do

by just pulling

from my worm baskets
this rug was hooked in no time...

used a linen backing
from a project that wasn't working

I know it's not hard to
make-do
when you have too much...

as the worm stash gets smaller
it'll be a greater challenge

there are many strips
of assorted greens in my stash...
any ideas???

The blocks stitched by Mom are from
Linda Brannock
we love her Miss Jump designs
and use them often...

and Jan Patek

We've been collecting their patterns
and booklets from the
Red Wagon days...

Very nice Kelley! Amazing what worms will do. I will have to challenge myself one day of just using my worms. Not sure how creative I can get with it.
Wish I had a suggestion for your greens. Nothing comes to mind.

Really like the pumpkins.
When I think green, I think trees and leaves, maybe a Christmas tree.
I knew when I saw Miss Jump that it was Linda's. She just happens to be my sister. I just finished one of her patterns hearts and stars again.

Wonderful rug and with scraps, yes, it will be nice;)
I was thinking all green mixed background with white as the design, a winter one perhaps?

I Sit and Think

I sit beside the fire and think
of all that I have seen,
of meadow-flowers and butterflies
in summers that have been;

Of yellow leaves and gossamer
in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun
and wind upon my hair.

I sit beside the fire and think
of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring
that I shall never see.

For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.

I sit beside the fire and think
of people long ago,
and people who will see a world
that I shall never know.

But all the while I sit and think
of times there were before,
I listen for returning feet
and voices at the door.

JRR Tolkien

*in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.*

Always wanted to do a quilt, perhaps it will be a rug that is about this wonderful poem I've loved for more than 40 years.
