Mom's Wish

Mom wants to make this quilt
she says we have all the fabrics for it
at home

that's' what it always boils down to
home
because I'm sure in her mind
at home
she can walk
do all the things she misses

laundry
dishes
making tea and toast
getting the mail
weeding
reading in her comfy chair

but most important
work on quilts
in her sewing room
with her stuff

Aww it's such a sad disease. I just got back from visiting my moms sister and I fear she may be starting. It breaks my heart

Those simple tasks and chores that we view as mundane, are taken for granted every day. We don't realize how fortunate we are to be doing them.

Watching a parent grow old is so hard.

That is a beautiful quilt, I can imagine doing it with appliqued fall leaves.
It is hard, not being able to let her be home but she is where she is safe and can be with people when you are at work, and that may be hard but the best thing you could do for her.

I am just discovering this for myself with my father. My family recently had to put my dad someplace safe as he was too hard for my Mom to deal with on her own & none of us kids live near by. Breaks my heart to hear him beg & promise to be good. Getting older just sucks.... At least your MOM has you, you're a wonderful daughter to her.

My Mama always wanted to go home.
She used to want to walk down the rail road tracks.
She walked them for years before she learned to drive in her 50's.
Hugs to you both.

I can't imagine not being able to be at your own home. God Bless her! My husband's mom, used to do the same thing...think she was at her home. We felt it was really sad at first, but then we discovered that she had found a little piece of happiness in her mind. The quilt is beautiful!!
