I Can Explain

not exactly the rug you thought I'd be hooking...
when looking through my pile of "scrap" linen
this long narrow piece spoke to me

so here I am
hooking another piece for a beach room
I've been wanting to hook an angel or hearts for Debbie
it's fun to work with these colors
after the dark ones of late

the cat will be hooked sometime
it's a favorite

she is so over having her picture taken
she is ready to be brushed
or fed

Took the day off from visiting Mom
she was very angry with me yesterday for not taking her home
she was fine until after bingo
some days I can handle it
lately it's become so much harder
I nearly burst into tears yesterday
which only makes her madder

so today is a mental health day
it's not really working
anxiety and guilt eat away at me...

what my mind knows
is so different from what my heart feels

Blue isn't my color but just love those blue hearts. Taking a day for yourself is a good thing. I completely understand as my hubs and I are caregiver to my Mom, she lives with us so we have it 24/7. You have nothing to feel guilty about.

Gorgeous rug! Don't be hard on yourself Kelley. Being a caregiver is one of the hardest jobs there is. Your mother may not always be aware of it but she is loved more than she could ever know. Take some time for yourself or you won't be worth a darn to anyone. Hugs, Sher

Aw, Kelley,
This is so hard on you. Take a day for yourself and try not to let guilt interfere. You are a wonderful daughter and it is the dementia lashing out at you, not mom.
Sweet little rug. You are a speed hooker!
Hugs :)

Sometimes you must take time to heal your own body and spirit. You will have more to give to your mother if you let yourself feel free enough to take care of yourself first.

Love your colors and your worms seem to be doing a far better job of making beautiful things than my worm baskets. You seem to have a lot of the same or similar colors.

Sometimes the best thing you can go for your mom is take a break for yourself. No guilt just spend the day being kind to yourself.
And love the hearts!

I wish you lived closer to me Kelley. Thank you dear friend for your beautiful comment on my post today. I can hardly read all the wonderful comnents and now the comments here on your post. It's been an extremely difficult week and today has been especially so. There is so much truth to the words take time for yourself. It's not an easy thing to ask for help. I think I have made the mistake in not being more vocal in asking. There are so many emotions going on it's hard to even recognize in oneself the signs that maybe we do need help and how to express it to someone. I have an extremely supportive husband. Without him wouldn't have made it this far in caring for mom. I know you are alone in dealing with all you have on your plate. You are a wonderful wonderful caring person and your mom is blessed beyond measure to have such a daughter. In difficult times it is comforting to know there are so many others doing the caregiving for a loved one and that we have a special bond. I've always treasured your written words and send my prayers and love and thanks! Big hugs to you and your sweet mom dear friend!! Cathy G

I am sorry your mom is having bad days again, that is the hardest. I know when I did home care, she would start talking about getting home before her husband got out of work and I would distract her until she forgot all about it and came back to the present. Her daughter would get upset and not be able to handle it, always harder on the family. It is good to take time for yourself, a brain break is just as important as resting our bodies. And I do love the new rug and the colors, that is really special.
