Going Colorful

a little progress

not much time for hooking
spending a lot of time with Mom
by the time I get home at night I'm done in

in the morning I do my cleaning and decluttering
cut strips of wool for Mom to organize later
pack a lunch
play with the cats
then it's time to go see her

today is the last of my FMLA days
for a while I hope
next two days were long planned vacation days
then weekend off
back to work Monday
I'm going to start on Friday leaving at normal time
praying she's okay

the past 2 days have been her best in a while
minimal neck pain
minimal anxiety until later in the afternoon
( her normal bad time)

Found in the Sewing Room

A few years ago when I was setting up the shelves full of wool in the sewing room I would take lengths of fabric I no longer cared for to line the shelves and protect the wool...yesterday I came across this piece (4 yards) and now think it will be good for something...especially after staining...maybe I can line paper mache boxes with it...any other ideas??

Applique Quilts

A few more perfect quilts hand appliqued, pieced and quilted by my Mom, Gladys (oh she hates that name...)...

both are Jan Patek designs...the bible quilt is based on an antique slave made quilt...

...Millennium Garden was done from the kit...for once we both liked the fabric just as it was...this is one of my favorite quilts and frequently hangs in my living room...

The bible quilt is one of four she made...one for each of my sisters and me and one for our church ( but it resides in the home of her friend Bea)...they are fabulous quilts...one of my sisters recently took hers for her 3rd grade class to see...they are studying the Civil war right now and were thrilled to be able to read the words and know the stories...
every day I can look around my house and feel blessed by all the love that has gone into the quilts made just for me!
