Another Busy Week

no hook or needle in my hands over the weekend
went look for my wool strips
got distracted
gave up

I did get a little bit of rest
just enough to start this over full week

this morning it was another failed MRI attempt
the Dr. told us it would be in a dentist style chair
the technologist said they haven't had that for 2 years
but the Dr. and staff in the company
never listen...
doesn't surprise me

Dad tried but it was too uncomfortable
said he'd rather lose his foot
sigh...

another wound clinic visit Weds
cardiologist Fri
he will need clearance for any surgery
is tough making all the decisions
myself
he says do whatever I think is best
arghhh....

have been making phone calls
since getting back from
test with Dad
bank and Rx for Mom...
only the necessary errands these days

looking forward to work today!!!

  1. It is so hard with the elderly and injuries, I sure hope they can find a solution for him but whatever you decide will be best for him and that is what counts, never feel guilty. Does your mom like to cut strips? Maybe that would be a fun job for her when you are home at night so you can keep an eye on things;)

  2. I know first-hand what a difficult road you are on. Right now my mother is doing well, in a "new normal," but every crisis takes many months to recover from. She is finally back to where she was in December, but it took six months following pneumonia and CHF in January. Same experience following separate hip fractures.

Making decisions for someone else is so very hard and emotionally exhausting. You're doing it for both parents at the same time, and doing the actual hands-on care of your mother is physically exhausting as well.

wishing you and your parents well. ...jan

  4. My heart goes out to you and prayers for you and parents as well. Being a caregiver is a very stressful task. Not only watching the decline of parents who were once vibrant but the task as decision maker in their best interests. Thankfully they have you as their advocate. God Bless.

  5. Being a caregiver is a very difficult job, Kelley...praying for you and your parents. Be sure to get some me time regularly...it may not be easily accomplished, but it is vitally important.

  6. I read your words and really feel for you to have to do this by yourself! Your parents have lots of faith in your good judgment ~ that's a lot of responsibility!!! Thinking of yu!

  7. My heart goes out to you and admire you for taking on the responsibilities you did. Am glad you are making some "Kelleytime" for yourself. Take some deep breaths and know what this really means to both of them.

    Huge hugs your way,

  8. Prayers for you continue!

I am thankful that you have enough medical knowledge to make the coming decisions, ones that truly will be in their best. The weight of it all isn't any less, but you will understand implications, that aren't always obvious to patients or their families.

    Hugs, buddy!
