Childhood Memories

this is my sisters tree in NC
she and her husband love all things Christmas

the toys under the tree
were collected by our father
who also loved Christmas

we only got those metal toys out
for the holidays
my favorites were the motorcycle and tank

when we were dividing them up
we knew Deb and Frank would enjoy them the most
I kept the motorcycle for a few years
then gifted it to them one visit

seeing their tree makes me smile
to remember all the years of playing with those toys
under the tree before Christmas...
Barbie dolls stood no chance against the tank

*****
the furnace guy arrive about 2.5 hours late
of course I'd left to see mom by then
and forgotten my phone
back on the list for Thursday morning...

the room has 4 huge windows
over a bench the rugs the length of the outside wall
which covers water and gas lines

this room and the one next to it
have always been heated by a wall heater
as they were a 1960 addition to the house

I have the windows and bench
"wool insulated"
run a space heater while I'm home...
praying that will keep the pipes from freezing

forgot to share this one yesterday
an absolute favorite garland

Less Again

love!
other than the pink

another perfect tree

the pine cones
the bells...

it's not like I'm going to decorate this year
just more fun dreaming

*****

this cold, sinus infection, whatever
will just not let go!

I'll visit mom, stay for bingo
then come home to sleep
so much to do around the house but no energy
the cats are no help
they encourage napping

~ Wishing you a happy weekend ~

Less

if I decorated for Christmas
I'd have this tree in one room

and this one in another
love how sparse they are
barely decorated

for outside the front door

love collecting these photos for future reference...
they are also daily reminders
to have less things

Happy Thursday!

Decorating Delayed

a certain cat in our house
decide to eat the small artificial Christmas tree
as we were attempting to assemble it

knowing that if he ate it
another little cat would too
we put it back in the box
out to the shelf in the garage

alternate plans are being made
but who knows
maybe our only decorations
will be outside this year

on the bright side...
Mom loves her new red barn coat from LL Bean
there's been some stitching done every day
peanut butter cookie recipe a huge success
I have 6 days off after work tonight
