today is my birthday

  as usual

time with Mom is good and bad

my heart is heavy knowing how unhappy she is

knowing I do all I can

minute by minute we go

Charlotte, one of the other facility daughters

gifted me with a gorgeous vase of flowers

sweet pink roses

among other flowers and greens I cannot name

they made everyone smile

of course, the cats are flipping out

I let them have a sniff

then put the vase on a high cupboard...

not high enough

so now they are way up on a shelf

where I can see them from the bottom

my two beasties want to chew them up! 

Melrose is on the floor under the shelf

keeping a close eye on the flowers for me...

Birthday Giveaway and Kale

I'm not a veggie person

to put it mildly...

I've tried

but beyond raw carrots

cooked green beans (canned no less)

and a few others

I don't eat veggies...

I'm still trying...

kale mixed in a vanilla protein drink

with a cup of mixed berries

and some flax seed

it's a start...
