More 4 Patch

above images from Pinterest
love the total scrappy quilt on the bed
using all ugly fabrics...
in my opinion

yesterday we set the blocks out
a few different ways

Mom says we need more orange, more dark blue
we are not going to use black
or many plaids or checks
out of our normal fabric comfort zone...
This morning I spent some time
outside trimming bushes
pulling weeds
listening to the birds
other than the death glare
coming from Olivia in the kitchen window
it was lovely

would love to reproduce this in prints

liking the "big print" border

not sure if I've shared this one before...
love the stripes and plaids

cracks me up!

Still spending my time on the crazy train...
barely got home last night and Mom called
to say Dad was on his way to the ER

I got there about 2 minutes after the ambulance...
spent about 4 hours there
until they were taking him to a room

nothing serious
but maybe
just maybe
we can get him to
a skilled nursing facility now...

I'm only awake now to take my meds
wish me a few more hours of sleep
so I'll be alert at work tonight

Always something...
am very grateful for the wonderful ER staff
they treated Dad like a king!

Loops and Stitches

One more rug hooked from the woolly worm

scrap baskets...

this closeup shows the true colors

mostly drab with some wild red

I tried to make it look old and make-do
Its' approx 20 x 26

has planned on hooking a word in the middle

but ended up not being enough room...

plenty of woolly worm scraps in the basket

for another rug using only already cut worms

for now the hooking tools and supplies are put away

~ time for some hand piecing ~

I saw this little quilt for sale on eBay recently

can you believe it's only 15 x 17???

those are some mighty small flying geese...

I'll be cutting out some little triangles soon

for a not nearly so small

flying geese quilt of my own...

Olivia gets to the window first

to have a look at the wild turkey strutting around

she is such a mighty hunter

I would be afraid she'd go after if outside...

Hand Pieced Patchwork Giveaway

There it sat, high on a shelf upstairs where I seldom venture...my favorite tin...bought on a visit to Quaker Square in Akron, Ohio...
I carry it downstairs, knowing what's inside and dread looking at them again...hours of my life are in that box...hours tracing templates, cutting fabric and piecing tiny triangles...I loved this project when it was begun well over ten years ago...it was going to be a strip quilt based on one seen in Lady's Circle Patchwork Quilts magazine...row after row of tiny triangles...time went by and I no longer liked that design, maybe a gorgeous scrap Delectable Mountains quilt would be better...

This morning looking over the blocks I think they would be perfect for a Bear's Paw quilt and am almost tempted to keep them and do it...almost...it's time for me to find these blocks a new home...

The blocks have all been hand pieced...all the pieces traced around in pencil...I think they would be best for another hand piecer...but am sure they could be machine done too...there are tons of blocks and tons of triangles ready to become blocks...

If you would like these blocks and promise to finish them into a quilt...please leave a comment here on my blog...why would you like them? do you have a project like this that begs to be finished but you just can't do it ?

I ask that only residents of the lower 48 US states request the blocks...I will pick a winner next Friday May 25th...

Scrappy Lap Quilt

Going through some baskets and this was folded up in the bottom...a hand pieced lap quilt size unfinished top...about 33 x 58...

Been so long can't even remember when I did this...will be taking off the dark green border and adding a few dozen blocks that I found elsewhere in the house...somehow they got separated...this time it'll be a wider red border I'll stitch on, then have it machine quilted...
