this year has been long and hard
as well as endlessly
rewarding
Mom is not in the mood for Christmas
it makes her sad
thinking of those we've lost
when we go around the facility
looking at all the
decorations
she comments on how nice they must be
for the people who enjoy
Christmas
she does enjoy the carolers
who show up daily
from churches and schools...
I'm off this weekend
so will spend most of it with her
taking in my stitching today
some Waylon Jennings CDs
her favorite Wendy's for lunch...
she has no problem with me napping
in the chair beside her
as long as I'm there
she feels safe and loved
me too
if I could, I would wrap you both up and give you both a big hug!

It is hard with everything that has happened this year and then being stuck at the facility on top of that. I am glad you are able to be there for it, and hopefully you can have a fun weekend together.

Christmas can be a sad time as we do think about those we have loved and lost, but they are forever in our hearts. That's why, in their memory, we need to celebrate with those around us, and once again make Christmas a happy time. Hugs, Mindy
ReplyDeletesounds like a perfect day. I hope your mom enjoys her day too.

Hoping your weekend with your Mom is filled with Love and laughter and some stitches, too!
ReplyDeletestill thinking about you, praying comfort, rest as you can. you are a good girl for your mom!
ReplyDeleteI thought of my mom and dad, granny and grandpa a lot this Christmas. Mostly letting memories bring back gatherings we had long ago. As the seasons of our life change and our understanding of love and family change it is bitter, but sweet too.
ReplyDeleteHope the weekend passed as well as your blogging set expectations.
