Kitchen Sink Rug

this scrappy rug is going in front of the kitchen sink
hoping this one will really shrink the worm stash
fun using colors I normally avoid

mats prepped and ready to finish
whip the edges
then cover the back with a heavier wool

will practice on these before doing Debbie's

biscuit making
he looks a mess but I swear he's always being brushed

working on decluttering this week
about 20 large bags of fabric donated to a few
churches and gals that make small quilts
for hospitals, homeless and nursing homes

still plenty left for quilt making

next I'm tackling Mom's clothes
starting with her coat collection
she loves coats like some women love shoes!

Wishing you a good day...

Still Hooking Away

chairpad four
there is a definite dent in the worm stash now
blues are getting low in the shades I need

the red goes on and on

this face
he cannot believe I stopped brushing him

 *****
I've been rounding up wool
making stacks and bundles
doodling up some designs on linen

planning to get the patterns on etsy next week
the wool on Facebook:
The Wool Pantry Rug hooking and Fiber Selling Group

shooting for Wednesday and Thursday

if I ever find those Halloween chalkware pieces
I'll list those too

darn work gets in the way of everything
 *****

today I'm off but will spend most of my time with Mom
it's bingo day!

they win a quarter per game
you'd think it was high stakes the way they carry on
today it's a quarter and a prize
one of the local home health care organizations
brings in a big basket of prizes to pick from...
candy, word game books, lotion, decorations
it's a lot of fun for the residents...

I usually buy packs of gum to pass out to my "friends"
they've seen me every day for nearly 3 years now
I make sure to learn everyone's name
they know mine too

they know they can ask me for help anytime
mom doesn't mind sharing me
(most days)

Hope you can be a little ray of sunshine in your world today
so many people are aching for
a friendly face
something I see daily in the ER

Hooking Along

back to work on the chairpads...
my stash of red worms seems endless

thinking of a pumpkin chairpad for myself
or more likely my sister...
maybe using these sort of drab colors
if there are enough in the worm stash

Happy Sunday!

Adding the Gold

adding the gold definitely helped this mat
thinking it will good with blue in place of the green
I'm really fond of the blue star with red background
so not sure what the next mat will be

this one needs some fabric stitched to the end and bottom
sort of drew it too close to the edge
also
I need to learn how to set the zig zag stitch
on "Mom"s" sewing machine
mine hasn't been touched in the years since I moved here

three years and all I've done is straight stitch...
I still have to get the book out to thread it every time!

hooking on these chair pads for Debbie is a lot of fun
no pressure
not sure if it will lead to continued hooking when they are done
my wool is not in the right place

no matter how I've tried to organize it
it's not comfortable to use
does that make sense?

most of the time Mom knows who I am
sometimes she thinks I'm "the other Kelley"
as long as she knows she is loved
I am happy

Wishing you a sweet day!

Chair Pad 3

this one needs something
maybe some gold in the star

the heart was just a doodle
it won't be hooked....

next on the frame will be something for me

Chair Pad 2 Progress

I hope you like red Debbie!
tried a dark mix background and it didn't work
 I think this one does

if you click on the pics
you can see I'm a pretty wonky hooker
always have been
always will be

this probably stems from when I was
learning to hook at Barb Carroll's...
one of the ladies had to have everything perfect
she was hooking prim designs
with Barb's excellent color planning
but each rug looked like it was machine made
 from then on
I concentrated on color and not loops

there's nothing wrong with perfect hooking
it's just not me

soon I'll be ready for #3
green star maybe...

I have to mention my Talon frame
it has absolutely spoiled me
I tried to hook a little something on my small
well loved and used frame
nope
now I have to stitch some small designs together
so the linen will stretch across the large Talon
love it!

More Chair Pad Ideas

image from Pinterest/Hooked on the Lake
 something like this
with a star in the middle looks like fun

The Preening Crow on etsy

each of these stars would make a great chair pad
loving that gold on red

No hooking yesterday

I had to get a new phone since mine had the
"black screen of death"
it was three years old so overdue for an update
you know how long it takes
in the Verizon store
even if I was the second one in the door when it opened

a three day weekend for me
planning on rest and hooking
along with plenty of time with Mom

Hope you have a safe and fun weekend!
