Wool Work

 Stella
this wonderful doll was purchased for me by Mom
in the mid 90's
on loan to my sister for years
she needs some TLC
she's been overseeing my work in the sewing room

this is another cupboard
I'd like to see a different color
yesterday it was just a drop off point

today wool waiting to be dyed
resides on the bottom shelves
on top...

this is my fall decorating
everything else is stored away

sad but true

Saturday Puttering

I have ignored this closet for far too long
some things untouched for years!

I want to paint it
since that won't be happening soon
figured at least I could clean it out

so today I'm alternating between cleaning
hooking little simple pieces
(about 6 x 6)
preparing invoices for my booklets...

tomorrow I will take the designs to make copies

back to the closet
it used to be worse
over time I have used up many bottles of polish and cleaners
shampoo, hand lotion

but the light bulbs!
they never seem to end
my parents had enough for the whole neighborhood
I have been placing all "like" things together
so brought another 15 packages
of light bulbs in from the garage
will check and see if they work then donate

Hope your having a wonderful day
this morning it was cool and breezy
with windows open
I could hear all the chimes Mom had around the house
of course it made me smile

No More Stuff

all the images are from Pinterest
I don't need more stuff
just need to get it out where I can see it to use

this is fat quarters of cotton
I'd use it for wool

too fussy for me
I like the idea of hanging organizers though

I'm thinking my patterns on red dot
or other large patterns on paper

maybe I've shared this one before
love , love, love these
will definitely need to get the pattern

I have lots of wall space in my sewing room
all these projects could fit on one wall
could

*****

after a visit with mom
I hope to be home and hooking the rest of the day
it's brutally cold and windy
intermittent snow

wishing you a warm and cozy day

In That Funk Still

off to a slow start
because I couldn't find my Miller pencil hooks
until this morning

colors appear brighter than in real life
going to try marbling some fabric for the background
once I find my directions on how to

will do most of the rug from my worm baskets
just not the background
I have WAY to much wool to buy more
so will have to dye something

been studying Karen Kahle's rug for background ideas...

my sister sent me this pic of me
from about 1965-6
most likely from kindergarten
no mole on my face, just a spot on the pic

I was pretty cute if I do say so myelf

this is my NC brother in law Frank
I need him to organize my sewing and hooking stuff
like his workshop

*****

Thanks for my birthday wishes
let's just say it wasn't the worst birthday ever
there was cake
I think I'll stop celebrating them from now on

my quote for 2017

"'I slept, and dreamed that life was beauty;
I woke, and found that life was duty.
Was thy dream then a shadowy lie?
Toil on, sad heart, courageously..."

Heatstroke

I'll pass on this book
but if anyone else needs it
I can supply the cat hair

cracks me up seeing
cats in boxes
mine aren't much interested
besides a sniff session

the wife of a coworker sell thirty-one
he caught me in a weak moment
so I bought 2 large totes
(same as on the shelves...lotsa dots)

stuff : I still have too much
ever feel like yours is weighing you down?
the less I have - the less I want

reminder to self...

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Not much creative going on here
the heat has taken away my will...
at least my house is
cleaner and more organized then ever before
why I've even mended some clothes
I know, right
heatstroke for sure!

Worm Control

worms might look nice in baskets

but they are too hard to use...

having to dig around

looking for just the right color...

seeing the way Karen Kahle

has her wool divided by color

in zip top plastic bags

I knew that was what I needed to do...

Melrose has objections to my entering

the Wool Room

usually he has it to himself

after I clean the sewing room table off

then transfer that pattern to linen

I will divide up my wool...

Tomorrow I should be able to share

some after photos with you...

Searching

it's the old needle in a haystack hunt

I thought I knew where all

my rug hooks were...

turns out I did know

before I moved

the past few days have been

an exercise in organizing

all my small baskets of

thread

pencils

scissors

pinkeeps

works in progress

floss

wool strips

and on and on...

nope

I haven't found the

one hook I'm looking for

but I did find

2 Miller pencil hooks

(I have about 6 or 9 or so)

not to worry...

it won't stop me

from drawing a name for the

giveaway tomorrow morning!

Getting Organized...

This photo was from last summer...it's much worse in there now~

My life just seemed to get away from me this year...so next year it will be different...not in a New Year's resolution kind of way...more daily baby steps...

And getting organized is one of my main goals...no matter how much I've managed to remove from this house, it's still one giant creating studio...and I'd very much like to change that once and for all...

So when I stumbled upon this blog looking for a pincushion pattern, it seemed a perfect challenge for me to take up:

Early Sunday

Olivia resting in "catland"

Chester had been on the orange hassock
but decided to try his luck
for a snack...

Emptying my huge wool scrap basket

and placing bundles

on an old wood clothes rack

just a bit of decluttering...

Chester denied a treat again

~He think EVERY time

I stand up is time for a snack~

Work in Progress: Studio

Yes, the couch is still in the living room...keep moving it around to get the walls painted, shelves moved in and loaded with wool...still have to paint the other side of the room and hang new drapery rods...
This is the sad old sewing room as stuff gets moved out...will be painting the wooden shelves that hold my books and magazines and put it under window in Studio (still 1/2 living room for now)...this will be the junk room until other rooms are done then this one can be scrubbed, painted and new carpet or flooring...
