Little Crow

Yesterday I pulled out a smallish piece of linen
stitched some cotton to the length and put it on the frame...
what to hook?

I cut for the background
everything else from the worm baskets

The previous rug did cut down the size of my worm stash
but in between I have hooked many rugs
adding plenty more strips
have also set aside some I think I'll never use
mostly purple

Today I started another similar to this on the same piece of linen
after that, there is a cat in the works

Thank you all for returning to my blog
after the long gap

Utility Rug

43 x 27

started this rug to use up strips from the worm baskets
colors I kept passing over
I did cut for the background

completed the hooking a few months ago
not sure when it will be finished

I don't particularly care for it
so if the cats damage it
my heart will not be breaking

and yes,
I know the x, y and z are missing

Have a wonderful day my wooly friends

One of a Jan Patek Kind

 Jan's Baskets

adapted from an older Jan Patek book
this basket rug is definitely one of a kind

I cannot offer the pattern
as it was hooked using her designs for inspiration
That being said
I have been studying some
antique quilts and samplers
something using those motifs is in the works

It's dark and dreary in my part of Ohio today

time to join the cats in a nap

Another One of a Kind

loved hooking this one
the colors speak to me!

I think the background color I dyed
is perfect for fall rugs

14 x 25 approx
SOLD
one of a kind design

next up will be donation rugs
smaller than usual so they will be more affordable

But First
cleaning up the disaster I made of my house
hooking and dyeing

Happy Friday!
the sun is shining and it's chilly here

Wednesday

not as much hooking as I planned today
but the colors chosen are pleasing to my eye

spent most of the day with one Dr or another
endocrinologist visit was fantastic!

it was my PA's last day
she was happier that me about my success
28 pounds since she last saw me
off insulin and one oral diabetes medicine

I'm guessing this doesn't happen often

then stopped at an urgent care for my eye
I've had a stye that will not go away
antibiotic ointment on my eyelid now
he said it only works half the time
so I got a referral to my eye Dr
will help me get in to see him sooner

Enough of that!

this image and the rest are from Pinterest
this reminds me of a Mariner's Compass quilt block

some ticking pillow cases will brighten up my house

now to pick the best color

by
The Painted Bridge

the plan was to make Keto focaccia
or pancakes

instead it will be these gummies
not like the flavor of a red hot

*****

I've had a couple of folks ask
what I eat in Keto...
I'm probably not the best to ask since I hate to cook
I cook a pound of bacon in the oven
to keep on hand for breakfast/brunch
or a quick snack

things I eat:

scrambled eggs with cheese /use butter

hot dogs and sauerkraut

grilled delmonico steak with cajun butter

grilled chicken salad with cheese
I don't use dressing so salsa tops the salad
must measure the salsa to limit carbs

breaded chicken breasts
(using pork rind crumbs, parmesan and butter)

taco salad

Wendy's Jr bacon cheeseburgers
plain with no bun
(I get 2 for a meal)

1/4 cup of berries per day

the best place to do is look  for ideas is on YouTube
search for keto-what I eat in a day

More crafty and stitchy talk tomorrow...

Happy Wednesday!

Blue Bird

different rug on the frame today
I wanted to have something for a fund raising raffle for
Mango On a Mission
she raises money for the rolling wheels
used by dogs who have walking problems

using an old design of mine
a little difference along the top edge...

I'll have it ready for next Sunday

sent this photo to my sisters earlier
my delicious lunch
measuring out that salsa
not even heaping the tablespoons...
that's how serious I am

made the taco meat instead of cookies last night
I still have plenty of fat bombs for the week

do not try this at home like me...
I am off my insulin
have been carefully checking my blood sugar
multiple times a day
in the excellent range without it!!!

if I hadn't done all the research
ahead of time
I would sign up for the free trial month at
dietdoctor.com
I still might when I have time
their YouTube videos are informative

Cats and Creating

stitching has resumed on the two color quilt
not that many blocks left to stitch

with Olivia's help
it only takes twice as long to get things done

a few blocks sewn together
most just pinned up
still not sure of the size
for now I'll be packing it up
when all the blocks are stitched
I need some more color

showing off her claws
I've never been able to trim even one

ears of annoyance
after being shooed to her chair

started a beachy rug for Debbie St Germain
this wasn't working

 this is more like it

turning on the charm and purring up a storm

am going to try this recipe tonight

the buffalo chicken dip was so-so
had it for dinner and pitched the rest
nothing wrong with it
just not for me

celery is great dipped in salsa
but I do have to measure out the salsa
or the carbs will add up

I hope you're having a great weekend!

Making some buffalo chicken dip later
thank goodness celery is keto

I very much enjoy the more technical
keto YouTube videos
I've been watching Dr Stephen Phinney

doctor who has been prescribing keto
for 40 years...

Freebie Snowmen

this is the free version

looking through my old doodles the other day
for a rug swap design
I love to hook snowmen!
I just don't want to own anymore snowman things
or mostly anymore things at all
still on my long journey
to minimalism

this is the free version

these are very rough doodles
nothing like they will look when I hook them
I encourage you to use them and adapt them
please
as always
give credit to me for my designs

this is the free version

so this is the fellow I chose to hook
tomorrow I will share with you
the finished hooked rug

the "new improved" version
is available for $10
on red dot
14" x 14"
shipping included to USA

proceeds to my local
two and four legged charities

Happy Sunday!

Recent Hooking and Swap

swap quilt from Marian Edwards
of Australia
top photo ~
is from a few days ago
the rug is now hooked and whipped
needs some wool strips to finish
about 24 x 46
makes me want to hook larger rugs

bottom photo ~
just finished hooking today
pattern by Red House Wool Studio
Harvest Blessings
15.5 x 19.5

so a few weeks ago my desktop crashed
have been using my phone or laptop
for most things
still getting the hang of blogging on laptop

a few more days left of my vacation
as always no painting was done
given the choice between hook/needle and brush
I am never going to get my walls repainted

at least they are clean
as are the baseboards and all the trim
so I did a little prep work
that should count for something...

wishing all my friends
sweet dreams tonight
and a joyful tomorrow

Blue Pumpkin

a very "kankerdoodle" rug

not sure of the background
or any details along the border

just a fun rug to hook!

*****
of course Saundra was first in my mind
when I posted the antique rug yesterday
I look forward to seeing
her hook it

Antique Sampler and Rugs

all images from Pinterest

not normally a red person
this sampler keeps calling to me

wonderful colors in this one
so very scrappy

this is one I'd like to recreate
if I ever feel like hooking again

taking a break from sewing room work today
didn't even wash the curtains as I'd planned

however
I added a backing and signed a hooked chairpad
finished stitching on the wool backing strips on one rug
starting on another
and
cut out some wool applique shapes

progress vs procrastination

Next Up

it took me ages it seems
to hook that little pumpkin
using up nearly all my pre cut orange strips

the background was hard
due to a shortage of dark pre cut strips
not wanting to use dark green

I make up little rules or challenges
for myself when hooking some rugs...

these two pieces were drawn up
on a smallish piece of linen
fabric stitched along the length to use it on the frame

not sure about the cat design
using the pre cut strips
means not a dark cat
 gray maybe...

*****

I was going to dye some wool the other day
ended up being too hot and humid
so the wool is hanging on the line
to be soaked again when it cools off!

which looks to be later this week
during my 4 days off
(regular weekend off and 2 vacation days)

running low on some dyes too
not going to replace for now
we'll see how make do dyeing goes
