Crows in Loops and Stitches
finally a rug off the frame
I started this one in late June I think
darn cross stitch got in the way
26 x 12
pattern available on Dorr linen
$50 shipped
a few mistakes
led to fudging and I love it!
I stitch 1 over 2 on 32 count
makes for an older look I think
design by Homespun Elegance
October Crow House
*****
Hope everyone is having a good week.
It went from hot
to unseasonably cool here. I'm fine with that.
This morning I picked up a carload of containers
from my friend Bea's house
it's almost empty
her son was there to pack the car
He's in his mid 70s
He'd rather be golfing
Bea's house is almost empty
soon to be for sale
Right now, she is in the hospital
went in yesterday with weakness and heart issues
she's 98
ready to join her husband
emptying her house of treasures
has really broken her heart
I'll pop in and see her tomorrow

Halloween Stitching
someone got carried away with those pumpkins!
I combined 2 Pineberry Lane patterns
Winter Sampler
by Birds of a Feather
this will be tea dyed
there are cream snowflakes
I chose to use one color instead of the two called for
the bottom area is very personalized
more Pineberry Lane stitching
I absolutely love her
*****
time to clean up my stitching mess
so I can do some hooking and finishing
Happy Gorgeous Weather !

Another One of a Kind
loved hooking this one
the colors speak to me!
I think the background color I dyed
is perfect for fall rugs
14 x 25 approx
SOLD
one of a kind design
next up will be donation rugs
smaller than usual so they will be more affordable
But First
cleaning up the disaster I made of my house
hooking and dyeing
Happy Friday!

One of a Kind
I've been working on this runner
for a few weeks
finally got the finishing done this morning
53 x 13
without a doubt
this one turned out exactly as imagined
there is another cat and pumpkin rug on the frame
using the same wools as this one
then on to other seasons
***
at this time I am not drawing up patterns
on linen or paper
the rugs I create now will are
one of a kind
this will probably change in the future
I'm thinking 2022
It's a beautiful fall day here in Ohio
wishing you
time to enjoy!

Back At It
set aside last year
back on the frame this week to finish hooking
mostly using up the pre cut strips
with a little added new black
speaking of black
here's my beauty
Happy Saturday!

Next Up
it took me ages it seems
to hook that little pumpkin
using up nearly all my pre cut orange strips
the background was hard
due to a shortage of dark pre cut strips
not wanting to use dark green
I make up little rules or challenges
for myself when hooking some rugs...
these two pieces were drawn up
on a smallish piece of linen
fabric stitched along the length to use it on the frame
not sure about the cat design
using the pre cut strips
means not a dark cat
gray maybe...
*****
I was going to dye some wool the other day
ended up being too hot and humid
so the wool is hanging on the line
to be soaked again when it cools off!
which looks to be later this week
during my 4 days off
(regular weekend off and 2 vacation days)
running low on some dyes too
not going to replace for now
we'll see how make do dyeing goes

Hooking and Stitching
this is as far as I got yesterday
using strips from the worm baskets
out of colors I want to use from here on in
personal challenge to finish hooking
without cutting another strip
Inspiration:
from New England
1920-1930
love those faces
haven't stitched on naything in ages
maybe even since Mom passed in May
log cabins are a perennial favorite
cutting some strips this morning
to put in my work tote
*****
also in my work tote is some car wax
we wax the x ray tables and slide boards
making it easier to move patients on/off from carts
since I'm obviously not keeping up with car waxing...
Wishing you a beautiful Sunday!

More Cat
this one has been such fun
if you look closely
you'll see he has a black nose and red mouth
I've had to cut some orange strips for pumpkins.
gold for sunflower
brown plaid for inner sunflower
now off to cut some blue for the border
trying very hard not to over cut
already thinking ahead to the next rug...
every few minutes I change my mind on which it will be
for sure I know it will be smaller
*****
finally got around to putting a link
to Saundra
I asked her last week (? time flies)
if she would draw up my designs on linen
for folks not wanting to draw their own
any of my designs from past to present
upper right hand corner
just click on the picture of the sheep
to go to her blog to send a message

I've been home for a few days sick
with some GI and diabetes issues...
ugh
I have made so many changes in the past few years
never enough
I'm not complaining, it could be so much worse
Happy Weekend my friends!

The One With the Cat
not sure about the color for the center of the sunflower
I know some are dark, some are gold...
time will tell
words
whether on paper or digital
I have a great love of words and stories
true or imagined

was a real blessing

More Oldies Plus
from 10 years ago
one of those amazing rugs that turned out perfect
it is, of course, living in NC with my sister
great inspiration for color
colors are horrid in the photo
another oldie
Vincent van Gogh
the mater of sunflowers...
combined a few of the designs in my new booklet
cat and pumpkins inside a huge sunflower...
I want to hook and not go to work today
maybe I can get a little done
Happy Thursday!
If you ever want a pattern of mine drawn up
Saundra of
Woodland Junction
is the lady to contact
I asked her yesterday and was delighted
when she said yes
I don't care to draw up patterns for sale
lucky us, Saundra does
she uses Dorr primitive linen as the backing

Sunflower Review
looking back at some of the sunflowers
I've hooked in the past
sold long ago
it hooked up exactly as planned
back when I did punch needle
another sold piece
wish I'd kept this one
but back then I was always broke
needing every cent I could earn
going to school late in life worked out great for me
just a few lean years during and after
yep, sold off
another favorite piece
gifted to a sister
love the red sunflower
now to hook some new sunflowers...

started this yesterday

use this as a starting point
hook two cats, less stars, more pumpkins
Freebie
from one of my first pattern collections
a favorite!
you might give the cat a Santa hat
change the pumpkin to a snowman head...
use the word merry
*****
*please do not share on Pinterest or other online locations
Have fun with these patterns
all I ask is that you give me credit for the design
don't sell the pattern in any form
you may sell your finished work
no mass producing
and all the usual respect the designer requests
I have plenty of patterns to share
especially of cats
It's a dreary, rainy afternoon in NE, Ohio
perfect for getting back to hooking my black cat rug

Hooking Along
back to work on the chairpads...
my stash of red worms seems endless
thinking of a pumpkin chairpad for myself
or more likely my sister...
maybe using these sort of drab colors
if there are enough in the worm stash
Happy Sunday!

(adapted from a doll pattern)

punched by me

so.....
I unhooked the whole thing
