Cross Stitching and Flosstube
image from Pinterest
I have been very busy hooking and stitching this week
My phone is nearly done for
replacement should arrive tomorrow
then I will share photos
*****
I have been on a shopping spree like no other
watching flosstube videos with pen and paper in hand
I even ventured into my local needlework shop today
(I won't be going back)
My goal is to stitch all the smalls
I have no desire to have framed samplers
(I love them! But the cost of having them framed is prohibitive)
my walls are for quilts and hooked rugs
*****
Melrose hasn't been himself for a few weeks
finally going to the vet Monday...
it took a month wait for the appointment
*****
I am also heading to Bea's house Monday morning
she is selling off her belongings
then her son can sell her house
she collected and sold antiques
she very excited that I love Americana!
Have a great rest of the day my friends.

Log Cabin #2
Log Cabin #2
this one sort of designed itself
forgot to take a photo after the faces were hooked
too late
it's on the way to a new home
pattern available on linen
I'll be back soon with more

Log Cabin #2
Log Cabin #2
Whenever I share a rug without a black cat I hear about it
This one is about the same as the first one
with the addition of 2 black cats
pattern on linen available
As for yesterday's comment about taking that huge rug apart
will not happen
my NC sister wants it
so I have a year to get it done
90* here today
I'm done being outside

Giant Pink Flowers
My latest design
I'm stuck in a loop of black cats
flags and lollipop flowers
19 x 11.5
available on linen or paper
These two were great fun to hook!
Another of my new designs
Cat in the Flowers
adapted from two antique rugs
With more free time
I see a lot of hooking in my future

Crows It Is
I did start another rug a few days ago
patriotic border
no plans for the rest of it...
now I need something for the middle
this Magdalena rug caught my eye
crows it is
*****
vacation day one
recovery from working the past four nights
Sat and Sun only 2 of us
so we run all over the hospital at times
you know the STATS are ordered at the same time
on opposite ends of the hospital
while you are doing an URGENT
keep and call patient
my feet and legs need some rest
I've been keeping up with my strengthening exercise
my elliptical riding helps a lot too
I need new orthotics for my super flat feet
should have made a Dr appointment for this week
***
so I will rest and prep today
by prep I mean grocery shop, clean and cook
so the rest of the week I'm free to dye,
sort through my quilt fabrics
and otherwise enjoy myself

Red, White, Blue and Green
started a new rug yesterday
after organizing those wool strips
it was obvious I need to use a lot of those greens
as usual not sure where this is heading
maybe all over stars
(from the cookie cutter shown yesterday)
maybe a flag in the center..
maybe you'd like to hook this too
my star is about 6" across

Starting Another Rug
I'm starting a new mostly unplanned rug
if you'd like to hook a long with me
these rugs from Pinterest
are all border ideas
you are in no way limited to these borders...
my rug will be large
because that's the piece of linen I want to use up
from my
"I'm never going to hook this pattern" stash
I'll use as many of the worms from my stash as possible
I'll cut more as needed
I've chosen a color palette
as in...no orange
my "plan" is for a flag rug
with a busy border
I'll be doing an American flag
you can choose your own
I like asymmetrical rugs
so my borders will all be different
probably
see where I'm going?
loose plans
if this rug inspired me
I'd just replace the elephant with a flag
maybe stay neutral
maybe use color
a couple more no brainers
replace basket or dog with a flag
I'd put pennies in the corners
very simple
these two are my biggest inspirations...
both color and design
*****
so that's how I start planning an unplanned rug
I'm beginning in the left upper corner
will share photos as I go
other ideas will be shared in
The Out of Hand Rug Hooker group on FB

More Chair Pad Ideas
image from Pinterest/Hooked on the Lake
something like this
with a star in the middle looks like fun

The Preening Crow on etsy
each of these stars would make a great chair pad
loving that gold on red

No hooking yesterday
I had to get a new phone since mine had the
"black screen of death"
it was three years old so overdue for an update
you know how long it takes
in the Verizon store
even if I was the second one in the door when it opened
a three day weekend for me
planning on rest and hooking
along with plenty of time with Mom
Hope you have a safe and fun weekend!

An In Between Project
I recently sent a few blocks
to a blogger collecting them for
Quilts of Valor
they were stitched pretty quickly for me
since all work is done by hand
deadlines and I don't get along
it got me thinking
about the fabric in my stash
that might never get used
mostly because I'm not a navy fan
but for Americana blocks it's a different story
slow stitching RW&B blocks
for veterans will be a breeze
as I go through the stash
organizing by color
I've been cutting out Evening Star blocks
setting the patches in a box
to be stitched when time allows
I always like to have some mindless stitching
ready for spare minutes...
do you do that too?
seems I can't bear to just sit with idle hands
