Back to the Frame

some images from Pinterest
to help me find the colors for my first Christmas rug 2017

not too hard to tell where it's headed...
I'll be making a few St Nick rugs for fund raisers...

a woman can't hook cats ALL the time
well, maybe some women
but not me
at least not now...

happy Sunday!

Pumpkin Wool

 pattern by Cheri Payne

when this pic showed up on Pinterest
the other day I knew I had to dye some
pumpkin wool

it  is one of the few patterns of Cheri's I don't have
but that's okay
I have dozens so can make do with
her other cat and pumpkin designs...

the pumpkin wool took two tries
first dye bath resulted in wool too soft/light for my taste
 redyeing made all the difference

the blue came out perfect the first time
#66 from Barb/Emma Lou's book

2 pots of green on the stove now
with 2 more to go later when the pots are free

It's a beautiful day here
very much like fall

Enjoy your day!

A Little Hooking

a little progress
work sure cut into my hooking time
the past few days

even though this is a worm buster rug
I'm going to go through my over dyed blues
and cut a few more strips...

I am very much enjoying the colors in this mat
they may be the future of my hooking
once all my "darks" are used up
thinking a mix of Karen Kahle over dyed recipes
with as-is light to mediums

*****

thanks for all your kind posts and emails
it's been such a rough week with Mom
left her today in tears
she asked me to throw her in front of a train

the nursing supervisor got ahold of the psych care company
after my repeated complaints
they are now trying her on a different anti anxiety med
I voiced my concern
since when it was prescribed for me it
shot my anxiety and heart rate through the roof

but her current meds are clearly not working
I'm sure the heat and full moon aren't helping
different aides every day this week
some nice, some impatient

she is sad, angry and bored
all she wants is to go home
there is no explaining
that the home she wants only exists in her memory

Reject Rescue

my buddy  Debbie
posted her re-purposing of a little piece of a scrap quilt
I'd sent her a while ago...

the piece I kept was used for machine quilting practice
it was awful
but somehow never got thrown out
eventually the machine quilting was picked out
borders removed...

today I trimmed the edges and hand stitched on a border
I add the basting stitches around the border
so I know exactly where to affix the binding

this little piece is going in a UFO box for future quilting
after some applique is added

these two are also going in the UFO box
they are at the flimsy stage...
waiting for quilting

today I've straightened up the last
of my stitching mess
on to rug hooking...

as always, the pictures are bleh
between the dreary Ohio skies and my lack of skill
you'll just have to imagine
less washed out looking little quilts
