Mig Quilts

when Mig announced on FB
she was going to be selling some of her quilts
I knew I was a goner...
I adore her work
especially anything from a Cheri Payne pattern
these are  few of my purchases

I really did have a hard time
controlling myself
fortunately she posted them at different times
so I missed out of many

on the bright side
her sale inspired my rug sale

I have many of these patterns
drawn up on linen to hook
this one for a long time
as I'd always planned to hook it for Mom

lots to look forward to
my packages will all ship today
the secret rug will probably be done this weekend

then it's time to hit the WOOL!

I do plan on another sale
later next week
whether buying or just looking
hope to see you then

Cheri Payne Baskets

I love quilts with baskets
Cheri's are among my favorites
these are photos of designs
from Pinterest

Mom did not like baskets on quilts
or I should say in the past few years she didn't
so I skipped stitching them

now that she's in Heaven
I'm hoping she'll be okay with it...
insert laughing here

she stitched many a quilt with baskets
lots of Jan Patek/Linda Brannock designs

Small Quilts

work truly kicked my butt last week
between that and Dr appointments I didn't feel like hooking
so I grabbed the scrap basket
cutting strips for some log cabin pieces

the plan is to machine piece
not my favorite
am going to work on improving my patience for it

these top 2 pics are some favorite Cheri designs...

the next two are from an etsy seller

 another perfectly simple Cheri design

I'm still cutting up scraps
in between cleaning/organizing the sewing room
and napping
it's a perfect day for napping

wishing you a safe and happy Saturday!

Pumpkin Wool

 pattern by Cheri Payne

when this pic showed up on Pinterest
the other day I knew I had to dye some
pumpkin wool

it  is one of the few patterns of Cheri's I don't have
but that's okay
I have dozens so can make do with
her other cat and pumpkin designs...

the pumpkin wool took two tries
first dye bath resulted in wool too soft/light for my taste
 redyeing made all the difference

the blue came out perfect the first time
#66 from Barb/Emma Lou's book

2 pots of green on the stove now
with 2 more to go later when the pots are free

It's a beautiful day here
very much like fall

Enjoy your day!

Funky Patriotic

just finished the hooking on this one..
stayed up late and woke up early
it's been a very long time
since I've hooked like this!

need blocked and prssed and all that jazz
for now I'm going to just hook on the next rug

sooner or later my precut strips will be used up
later rather than sooner

Happy Sunday

Sew Primitive

I decided Old Glory needed a companion rug...
design elements are from a Cheri Payne pattern in my collection

still using up the already cut strips

in case you want one

she's retiring her pattern business at the end of this month

Guardian Angel

I just love how she turned out
now to steam and start binding...

hooked from my worm stash
inspired by a Cheri Payne pattern from my stash

I'm having fasting bloodwork tomorrow
when I get to work
so nothing to eat after 2 am
not quite NPO since I can drink water
but this is how I feel!

A Common Problem

Jan Patek
these patterns all have one thing in common
the sit unused in my stash
this one I like the center design
thought it would make a good hooked rug

 Jan Patek

the larger applique blocks would also be great for rugs
since I've purchased these patterns
(long ago)
my desire to applique has diminished to nada

 except for wool applique
this one keeps calling to me...
pillow and quilt
a Cheri Payne pattern

another Cheri pattern I've loved from first sight
I could hook or wool applique this one
or do both

 from Cheri, of course!

this one looks like such fun

a drop in the bucket of my pattern stash
I have purchased very few patterns/books this year
too many I want to do now

this time of year I vow to do better next year
more hooking and stitching for Christmas
remind of that in the Spring okay?

*****
Mom is slowly returning to herself
still mentally changed from Dr messing up her meds
on return from hospital

she has been enjoying the lovely cards
and gifts my dear friends have sent her...
the outfits we daughters have given her

and my sneaking her water that's not thickened
(she has no issues swallowing it, no choking or coughing
the speech therapist has been off sick all week
but substitute has moved mom to nectar thick)

looking forward to having this weekend off
to spend more time with her
even if we only nap side by side

Happy Friday!

Three More

more blocks for the friendship sampler
stopping at 20
setting them 4 x 5
not sure about the borders yet
Mom approves

perm day
normally Tuesday but there was a luncheon
she just ignores me when I take photos now
the lady at the end of the table is 99
she loves her diet Pepsi
We've had a few better days
not good
because she scared her friend Ann
who then wouldn't talk to her until today
but today we all talked and laughed
played bingo
better, not perfect
Mom's new roommate is 105
she doesn't speak English
is a tiny 85 pounds with a wonderful smile
she's only here for some rehab
Wishing you a peaceful day!

I Blame Cheri

I've been obsessed with 9 patch blocks
for the past week
ever since Cheri
started her latest quilt along

I don't care if they are uneven
blocks like those above...

or even and coordinated...

another uneven 9 patch

these modern blocks are from
Fresh Lemon Quilts

blue and tan!!!

blue and brown and tan...

more uneven 9 patches to love

I have been cutting and stitching
patch after patch

will share some photos of my blocks tomorrow...
I might blame Cheri for this
but it's a good thing

Under the Weather

Starting with a cold
ending with

conjunctivitis

plus all points in between

the past 2 weeks have been misery

Besides all the coughing

up a lung or two

I haven't been up to

stitching or hooking the whole time

I know...

sick is one thing

idle hands

takes it to a whole

different level

Finally today I'll be

picking up my hook or needle

still can't decide...

Here are a few

book and pattern purchases

made this year

that kept me planning

the next project

Can you guess which one

is going to be used first?
from
PrimitiveBettys

we have a new baby in the family

and there is a

Monkey Business quilt

in here that has

his name all over it!

Another great Cheri pattern

from

Stacy Nash

her latest booklet
