Horse and Posies

original

the horses have it
for the third quarter pattern

faded version

can't wait to see what you do with this design
so much potential...
a true reproduction
or add your own spin

simple pattern to copy and enlarge

I've been thinking stars...
have had this photo saved for ages
it looks so old
date is more recent...
(apologies for not knowing the hooker)

love this one!

this one is super simple to draw up
no need to copy and enlarge
just fold paper for your star shape
(use freezer paper for bigger stars)
in the size you want
and your template is ready...

Antique Rug of the Quarter

Almost time
for the 3rd pattern
of the quarter...
reproducing antique rugs...

After much deliberation
it came down to these two rugs...
I think the stars could be amazing in
prim shades
~ ~ ~
the horse with flowers
has so many possibilities
my rug would have a cat instead
probably sunflowers
 pumpkins instead of flower posts...
more of an "inspired by"
than a reproduction...

So
what do you think?

I'll be sharing the pattern with you on
July 1st...

Antique Rugs

I've been searching for and saving images

of antique hooked rugs

for as long as I've had a computer...

Every rug teaches me something

or gives me an idea

for a rug of my own...

This chicken rug is amazing

makes me want to hook one

just like it...

except with cats

love the face on this one

cats and thread ~ endless joy

So you want to know where to find these images?

google antique hooked rugs

then spend hours

looking through antique shop sites

narrow down your search

to

antique cat hooked rugs

or horse, dog or house...

it takes a lot of time

like any worthwhile endeavour

just wait until you see

the rugs inspired by the ones I've shared

searching for old rugs is time well spent

Fall Hit n Miss Swap Mats

These two rugs were hooked for a mat swap on the Wool Snippets forum in the msn groups...we were paired up for the swap with a theme of fall hit n miss...hit n miss is a rug hookers way of using up lots of bits and pieces of wool...in the first rug it was the clam shells and the second the border squares...

The first rug was hooked by me for Jane Augenstein...it's called Gilly's Romp...I had a story in my head as I hooked this piece and included it as my gift to Jane...see her website for more Gilly info... she is a phenomenal hooker...

The second rug was hooked by Jane for me...it includes many of the things I love...especially Chester...this rug is such a treasure! There are honestly no words to express what joy this little may gives me...
