only a few more days and I'll be moved in with Mom...her house is being over run with baskets full of this and that...things that aren't easy to pack in a box...
Tuesday the truck from ReStore arrived...with one stop before me the truck was nearly empty....good thing because between oak dressers, painted wood benches and box upon box of prim goodies there was barely room for the old Singer sewing machine in it's cabinet....it started out as grandma Pansy's treadle then eventually my sister had it converted to electric...no longer works but am sure someone will find a use for it...
for sure I don't miss a thing...treasures from family/friends are making the trip...am only allowing myself a few things to store away...downsizing to the essentials for creating and two cats who have no clue at the changes about to happen...
am posting this from my Kindle...barely know how to use it...my new desktop has Windows 8 that is going to take some time too...in the meantime I've been keeping up with a few blogs...and napping every second I can...
a question for you...what black flannel have you used for wool applique? Mom thinks she's ready to start stitching...

May As Well Laugh
this was me last night
when I found out they moved Dad
to another room
without family there...
it was planned moved for later this week
we've had enough issues
with his confusion
this is how Dad feels
am waiting for the movers to get here
moving my big cupboards
and wool racks
can get them organized
before the final move
June 10
I will probably be sleeping on
Mom's couch a few nights
before I move...
I have 5 days off starting Sat
so can be there
in the late afternoon/early evening
when she is most confused...
Dad is motivated to eat more
(lost 30 # in 2 months)
and try harder at therapy
with this move to a long term room
may just be the kick in the butt
that will work
now that he is feeling better!
hugs my friends

Downsizing
short on time and energy
there will be no garage sale
I've decided to donate
to ReStore instead...
seeing all the good they've
done in my area
it seems the best choice
moving day has been set for
June 10th...

my 700th post
will be very soon
a giveaway box is being filled...

Packing Time
Mom and Dad
May 2
they've been married almost 65 years
my sister took this photo
right before he took a nosedive
out of his chair...
he's fine
that hard headed German skull
has taken more than a few bumps
July 2011
Dad was in skilled nursing that month
oh the changes in the past 2 years...
boxes are being packed
at my house
I've given my landlord a 2 month notice
the cats and I
will be moving in with Mom
by the end of June...
oh the cats!
they are the one fly in the ointment
how to keep them inside
is my issue
Mom will forget
I don't want to have them closed off
in a bedroom when I'm out of the house
my thinking cap is on
for a solution
this sort of tired I understand
hoping after the move
I'll have more time to enjoy
my wool
cotton
and thread
It's a gorgeous morning here
the crab apple trees are blooming wildly
makes all the driving around such a pleasure
Wishing you a wonderful day!

The Garage Awaits
stand at this door
begging to go out in to the garage
for an adventure?
All this
needs to make it's way
in to the house
(there's more than you think)
Even the car is full
for now
with one more
load of belongings
to pick up today...
Haven't started decorating yet
still deciding
what should go where...
some of the furniture will move
before the walls
start holding my
rugs and quilts
As for quilts
Mom is about finished
with a new one for me
(yep, I'm spoiled)
Regarding my last post...
I've decided to hold off
on buying the fabric
for now
after coming across a bunch of
"had to have it"
fabric I've never used...

Resting
My body forced me to take
a day of rest today...
I started out
thinking it would be a
productive day...
emptied a few more boxes
putting things away
tormenting the cats...
then a shower
after that my body
said "no more"
there went my plans
to pack another load of stuff
from the old house
maybe clean a bit
instead...
a three hour nap!
Now as I sit
at the computer
looking out the window
at the bird feeder
squirrels in the backyard
feeling tired is all worth it
soon
I'll be able to enjoy this house
and yard
as much as the cats do...
the other day
resting in between
chasing Olivia around
a few days ago...
the snow is gone now
Olivia the first few days

Moving with Cats

If you're looking for Olivia
she is on the couch
under a flannel sheet and quilt...
That's where she's been
since I brought the
cats here late
yesterday afternoon...
oh sure, she checked out
the living room...
from my lap
As for Melrose
he is bouncing around the house
checking all the windows
sniffing up a storm
jumping up eveywhere...
trying to open all the cupboards
it's F-U-N for him
Maybe by tomorrow
she'll step on to
the windowsill
to watch the birds...
if only a chipmunk would run by
she'd forget all about
being a sweet little scaredy girl

Before Photos
I've been moving
a few loads of fabric and smalls
for a few days now...
the warmer weather has sure helped...
I'm off work this weekend
so will be hard at work
moving as much as I can...
the movers come on
Wednesday
and I'd like to have
only the big pieces left for them!
A few before photos...
this has has prim potential galore...
across the street
is the fire/police station
but you get the idea
all the stuff is the landlord's
he's still cleaning
polishing and painting
yuck-o
this carpet is not for me...
I see an area rug or two
in the near future
living room is about twice as big
as my current one
think most of my furniture
could fit in here...
plenty of wall space
for quilts and hooked rugs
the living room faces the backyard
overlooking lawn and woods
living room window
do you think
Melly and Livvie
will be pleased?

Packing is Slow
for the most part
baskets are normally
on the floor...
the cats have been
sleeping on different shelves
where their is cozy wool left
Livvie loves this spot
she can see down the hall
while reamaining toasty
by the heater vent
she sleeps on it
under it
behind it
Melrose doesn't bother her here
I can start moving my
belongings in to the new place
on Wednesday!
the carpet is being cleaned tomorrow...
first the wire shelf units will go
then I can fill those up
&
bring home all empty boxes
Thanks for all your kind
comments about Chester
my missing him is
not a sad thing
more a way of remembering
what a treasure he was...
~Update~
Miss Pippi girl
wants me to remind
you that the camera
adds 10 pounds
...
she is not
a wee plump kitty
as it appears

No Snow Today

MUTTS
my favorite comic strip
No snow here today
just cold and more cold
after the ice
on Tuesday night
I'm looking
forward to seeing
more sun
Nothing creative going on
packing and cleaning
A bit of napping
now and then
Next up is packing the car
with books
for the
Friends of the Library
recyclables
thrift store donation
&
trash to the curb
Have I ever mentioned
how scared I get
when low flying planes
go by
or helicopters?
Today it dawned on me
how close the new place
is to a small airstrip...
for planes
&
Life Flight helicopters
So when one crashes
in to my house
with me in it
I won't be surprised
~
it's one of my few
recurring nightmares

Busy Days Ahead

All those boxes
filled with wool...
A few with
quilt fabric
I'm moving next month
only
4 miles away
I'll be
packing, cleaning and painting
most of the time...
listing a few
things on eBay
that don't need to
make the short trip...
like some of my
hooked rugs
that have been rolled up in
baskets for ages...
the new house
has a basement
that would be perfect
for rug hooking
classes...
