Recent Hooking and Swap

swap quilt from Marian Edwards
of Australia
top photo ~
is from a few days ago
the rug is now hooked and whipped
needs some wool strips to finish
about 24 x 46
makes me want to hook larger rugs

bottom photo ~
just finished hooking today
pattern by Red House Wool Studio
Harvest Blessings
15.5 x 19.5

so a few weeks ago my desktop crashed
have been using my phone or laptop
for most things
still getting the hang of blogging on laptop

a few more days left of my vacation
as always no painting was done
given the choice between hook/needle and brush
I am never going to get my walls repainted

at least they are clean
as are the baseboards and all the trim
so I did a little prep work
that should count for something...

wishing all my friends
sweet dreams tonight
and a joyful tomorrow

Summer Swaps

Two of my online groups

are having simple summer swaps...

in one we're making sewing rolls/needle cases

here are a few photos

I'm using for inspiration

this is a Sue Spargo pattern

free on All People Quilt

of course

I'd have to add some pockets

to the inside...

this photo came from esty
I like the idea of printed sewing images

this is one is just about perfect

lots of Stacy Nash patterns

to choose from in my stash

an old favorite

I like the mix of fabric/textures

I'd like a few hanging

sewing rolls for display

a little too prim for this swap

love it...but too much work

Which one would make you happy

to receive in a swap?

Not sure exactly which sort of

huswif I'll be stitching

but I do know

it will have cotton, wool and cotton velvet...

In my eBay group we're doing

our 3rd Anniversary swap...

three ornies/pinkeeps

one has a sunflower theme

the other two are your choice

Both swaps end in early August

should be plenty of time for stitching....

Swap Goodies

We had a little sewing roll swap

in the Small Quilts group on YahooPenny got my name

another oh lucky me moment

beautiful work and colors
I'm going to be able to put it all to good use!
Thanks again Penny

I had Carla's name and color preferences...

fun to make

even if it turned out more wallet-like

Olivia watching Melrose joining us

in the sewing room
she gets her little nose out of joint

because he only comes in here

if I'm in here

he prefers the front bedroom (wool room)

the big photo of her in the banner

is of a yawn

Swap Gifts for Dixie

This was so fun to hook
for Dixie
~
our online prim quilt group
had a Christmas Swap
and I got her name
~
we were supposed to use a
flat rate priority envelope
but I cheated
since the rug was too big
and I don't like folding them
~
the rest could have fit
in the envelope
really

Have been thinking
about hooking myself
if I can
just
decide
on the word

Don't forget
to sign up for the
hooked rug
giveaway
a few posts back
~

Christmas Swap Rug

Hooked for Lynn

my
Make-Do Christmas Swap
partner
from our
online
Primitive Folk Art Quilting Group

one of the many rugs
I've hooked in the past
few months...

forgot to take a photo of
the finished rug
but you get the idea...

this was so much fun
because
I challenged myself to only
use wool from the
already cut strips

it was only after hooking it
that the wool
was organized by color

More photos coming soon
of the wonderful items
that have shown up
on my doorstep
in the past few weeks~

Swaps and RAK

~The photo here does not

do justice to these incredible woolens...
good thing or you'd be
drooling...

Bren and I did a great swap...
a box of my quilt fabric
for a box of
her woolens

~I think we are both
beyond happy about the
results~

Here's her blog:

if you need some great wool too...
she has a website
and an e-crater store that
need updating
but am sure an email
will work too

her wool
is magical
got me hooking again
after about a year
of doing everything but

Our Fall Swap

on the eBay group
was last month
ooh la de da
did I receive a great package
from Ginger!

and yes,
that is a bit of purple wool
hiding behind the candle!

Close up of the gorgeous penny rug

Olivia ran off with it first thing
but no harm done
and it's now tacked to the wall
in a place of honor...
Thanks again Ginger for the
wonderful gifts!

here's a link to Ginger's blog:

A special treat from Sharon

Nothing like receiving a
Random Act of Kindness
gift out of the blue

and she used one of my
little designs for the
perfectly prim needle punch
basket lid

It's
amazing in person

Thanks again for the
delightful package Sharon!

Blue Swap

Our little eBay group

did a Blue Swap
to help chase away the winter blues...
you sent some simple items:
blue wool
blue floss
a cheery card
a package of flower seeds
and
a blue item of your choice

Pam got my name

and she spoiled me
with some wonderful treats...

The package of kitty treats

were a huge hit!
They are tiny little pieces
and the kids each got two...
but spent ages
trying to open the package
for more~

Thanks again Pam!

a Swap WOW

Grace has thrilled me

with the wonderful swap gifts
she created!

We are in a very small

extreme prim online group
~ we swapped quarter yards of cotton fabric~
The rules were simple...
use that fabric to create a WOW
and send it back

I say WOW & more WOW

Thanks again Grace...
the gorgeous treasures you created
have a very happy home~

I'll be sure to post photos of the
works I made for Grace
after they ship and she receives them
next week

Chester and Olivia watching it snow

again

Don't know why she looks so big in the pic

because she is much smaller

than the big guy
