Busy Hands, Happy Heart

 Star Spangled
pattern by Threadwork Primitives

the light ones are much better in person
but their still going to get a second dye job

Am looking for this OOP print book if you know anyone
who'd like to part with theirs for cash or a hooked rug

purchased from my friend Bea a few weeks ago
while I was helping set up for her estate sale

created by her son in the late 70s/early 80s
it has so much meaning
her son Ronnie died around that time

we have attended the same church my entire life
she is still active in many projects

I do believe in blogging without obligation
but I didn't intend to be away so long

I have about (no joke)
20 x stitch pieces to show you from
the past few months

Hope you're able to keep cool in this heat
Ohio is bad but not like farther West

It's been a week since Melrose had his dental work
they only had to remove one tooth
He is so much better, other than mad about no crunchy food

A Full Cupboard

facing into the sun
not the best way to get a good shot
moving the cupboard was not an option though...

top row is actually orange and reds

this is most of the wool I've dyed in 2017
missing are about two more shelves full that didn't fit

these will mix wonderfully with my other stash
no excuse not to hook now

thinking I'm pretty much done selling wool
I'm glad I dyed it
sold enough to make it worth my while
just felt much more like work
than work ever does

other items like homespun, dye books with swatches,
a hook or two
even some hooked rugs
are in the works
just not wool

*****

with all this dyeing I really used up a good amount
of my dye stash
one of my main objectives

for now all the dye supplies are stored away
if I feel the need to dye something
I'll just have to marry some wools

***

am going to be doing a little
hook-a-long next month
if you'd like to join in
will post here and on FB

the plan is a winter theme
still tossing ideas around in my head

In No Patricular Order

https://dorrmillstore.com/

Dorr is one of my favorites for wool to overdye
Oatmeal in particular

 http://www.heavens-to-betsy.com/

wonderful wool to use as-is or overdye
order the swatches for $5
the best way to get a feel of the wool and see the true colors

If you don't have a local shop selling wool
these are my top suggestions...

I've had a few questions about where I purchase my wool
very little has been purchased in the past 5 years or so
working on decreasing the stash size

get on those mailing lists
you'll find more delicious wool than imaginable

Hooking Complete

about 18 x 28

am thrilled with how this turned out
mostly cut just what I needed
ended up having to scrounge for some different blues
to finish up

the background is a mix of dark and medium blues,
dark and medium teal
about half as-is and half overdye

the petal are a mix of four different wool pieces
one as-is
the middle is one piece of plaid as-is

sorry
no before shots of the wool
just thought you'd like to know
scrappy is my thing

this rug will be available for purchase
once the steaming
binding and signing are complete
