Nice and Simple

a nice simple little mat

the wool is what I used for the background
cut against the stripes

another little freebie pattern from one of my older booklets...
I've never hooked this one
think it's about time!

*****

I can get a lot of hooking done sometimes because...

I live with 2 cats
there is no one here to cook for
no one cares how clean it is (besides me)
no children or grandchildren
I have no life!

seriously...

Another Pumpkin

as you can see
another one where I changed my mind
drew this one up last year
 called for a sheep instead of cat when I started hooking
can be drawn up from my new booklet
by mixing up designs

the wool is an older piece
probably from Heavens To Betsy
mixed in with pumpkin wools
it creates a nice sparkle

having a hard time choosing a background

*****
back to work today
still feeling not myself
but I've been to the Dr and he says it's okay
 great
because I am sick of my own company!

Hooking Complete

about 18 x 28

am thrilled with how this turned out
mostly cut just what I needed
ended up having to scrounge for some different blues
to finish up

the background is a mix of dark and medium blues,
dark and medium teal
about half as-is and half overdye

the petal are a mix of four different wool pieces
one as-is
 the middle is one piece of plaid as-is

sorry
no before shots of the wool
just thought you'd like to know
scrappy is my thing

this rug will be available for purchase
once the steaming
binding and signing are complete

More Cat

this one has been such fun
if you look closely
you'll see he has a black nose and red mouth

I've had to cut some orange strips for pumpkins.
gold for sunflower
brown plaid for inner sunflower
now off to cut some blue for the border
trying very hard not to over cut

already thinking ahead to the next rug...
every few minutes I change my mind on which it will be
for sure I know it will be smaller

*****

finally got around to putting a link
to Saundra
I asked her last week (? time flies)
if she would draw up my designs on linen
for folks not wanting to draw their own
any of my designs from past to present

upper right hand corner
just click on the picture of the sheep
to go to her blog to send a message
in the upper right corner

*****

I've been home for a few days sick
with some GI and diabetes issues...
ugh
I have made so many changes in the past few years
never enough
I'm not complaining, it could be so much worse

Happy Weekend my friends!

More Oldies Plus

from 10 years ago
one of those amazing rugs that turned out perfect
it is, of course, living in NC with my sister

great inspiration for color

colors are horrid in the photo
another oldie

Vincent van Gogh
the mater of sunflowers...

combined a few of the designs in my new booklet
cat and pumpkins inside a huge sunflower...
I want to hook and not go to work today
maybe I can get a little done

Happy Thursday!

If you ever want a pattern of mine drawn up
Saundra of
 Woodland Junction
is the lady to contact
I asked her yesterday and was delighted
when she said yes

I don't care to draw up patterns for sale
lucky us, Saundra does
she uses Dorr primitive linen as the backing

In the Garden

my latest pn piece

is on it's way to eBay...

I think it turned out just right

one of those designs

drawn directly on the backing

then changed as I went along

thinking this would make a great rug too

I can look at cats and pumpkins

all year long

~~~
this heat is kicking my butt
the AC in this house
leaves a lot to be desired
but at least I have AC
some of my coworkers don't
a few didn't want to go home last night...
Two Not So Bad Cats
" someone" knocked my latest punch needle piece
to the floor and is trying to eat the floss
Olivia thinking of maybe
sleeping in the comfy chair...
but Melrose is close by
so she'll just ignore him instead
he's just watching the birds fly by
Thanks for your recent comments on my new designs!
so maybe a cats only booklet
is in the works
~10 designs
cats, pumpkins, sunflowers
all my favorite things
Cats and More Cats
This is why I've been absent lately...
punching and more punching
works in progress
they need trimming
staining and finishing
***
I'm not sure if there will be
any more design booklets from me
I feel as if everything I create is the same old thing...
oh how they love the bird feeder
right outside the window
two minutes after this I let them
out in to the garage
where Olivia promptly caught a tiny mouse
Thankful Freebie
This pattern is from my Early Harvest booklet
in 2007 (?)
all the booklets have been retired
I have never been happy with this pattern
it needs some tweaking
So I've drawn it up to punch
and will share the new
improved version in progress soon
You are free to use the design as is
or wait to see how I change it
then use the changes as your inspiration
All I ask is that you give me credit
for the design
Ginger Cat
one of the sweetest cats ever in my life
was Tigger...a big fluffy ginger
he loved roaming around outside
almost as much as he did
leftover milk from your cereal bowl
his ruff would get so big in the winter
he looked like a lion
this is one of those designs I drew
directly on the backing
it's a one of a kind
that will make it's way to eBay
The Catnip rug pattern is available
in it's original form by
Lynda Hall
in her book
A Little Porch Time
~~~

my rug has an extra sunflower

different bird and cat

is a different size

another one of a kind

Hooking & Punching

here's my work in progress on the Catnip rug

(adapted from A Little Porch Time)

Melrose had to check it out too...

still need to dye the background wool

hope to achieve an oatmeal type color...

notice the helper still around in the lower right corner?

this photo was from before I decided to change

the cat from black to ginger...

punching on black weavers is wonderful for dark background

~~~
chemo hat update
I gave 10 hats to Paula yesterday and she was delighted!
she can wear them to surgery too
while she still has her hair...
Thanks to:
~ Mimi and Cheri for some wonderful fabric!
~ Bren for four great hats!
~ Doris for 4 more hats!
You're wonderful!!!
Fall Hooking
Olivia does the unthinkable!
As you may know,
it's always been Chester's job to get first crack at a new rug...
well the little one beat him to it today
and it wasn't pretty...
Very pleased with the way this hooked up
with the red sunflower...
to SELL or to KEEP?
it's always such a hard decision...
thanks again for all your support of my new booklet...
hoping to get some (good) reviews soon
as the first batch shipped Tuesday...
SUNFLOWERS
I love sunflowers...
all shapes, sizes and colors...
so when I want to hook a sunflower and need some inspiration
I just search for images on the net...
and usually have one set as background
on my screen...
A few Prim Stitcheries
Stitched these last year when I couldn't get motivated to hook...sort of eyeballed them on prairie cloth...cross stitched but not counted and not even...love the way they turned out and sold them on eBay...have an Olde Woolens rug drawn up but haven't gotten around to hooking it yet...
Birds, Flags and Sunflowers
Another hooked rug that now belongs to my sister Deb...hooked it a few years ago when inspired by some designs of Lori Brechlin(notforgottenfarm)...a free and unplanned piece wool wise...just used pieces form the snippet basket...a very happy rug...
