The One With the Cat
not sure about the color for the center of the sunflower
I know some are dark, some are gold...
time will tell
words
whether on paper or digital
I have a great love of words and stories
true or imagined
growing up in a home where everyone loved to read
was a real blessing

Sweet Memories
so I won't ever forget...
a couple of things from the last few days with Mom
I stayed overnight with her
holding her hand each time she raised it from the bed
something we've done for years now
only leaving for a few hours
to feed the cats
inject some meds
while my sister stayed with Mom
Thursday she had a high temperature
even while on antibiotics
so we knew
she didn't respond to us
other than opening her eyes
early Friday was so much better
she even shooed away the male aide
from Hospice
when he arrived to care for her
with think she associated him with the Hoyer lift
she talked with us on and off all day
on returning that afternoon
I woke her up leaning over to kiss her
oh the joy on her face
when I said hi Mom
she kissed her hand
then placed it on my cheek
for a few days she refused anything to eat or drink
except a few Lifesavers
later that day I was sitting there
eating my gummy bears
when she said I sure was chewing a lot of gum
I told her no, that was Judy
I was eating gummy bears
immediately her right hand went up
she ate one and was satisfied
she was happy to sit up in bed
watching the Andy Griffith show
she even drank some butter pecan Ensure
just some general chit chat after that
lots of I loves yous...
Saturday morning we knew our time was short
the Crossroads Hospice team was phenomenal
I can't say that enough
*****
my NC sister and her husband will arrive in a few hours
we'll just putter around my yard and house
catching up on chores and weeding
tomorrow we're all going to lunch together
my local sister and I have decided to
start with a clean slate
it's what our parents wanted most
all their girls to be friends
we think that she waited to leave us Sunday morning
until she knew we would heal our relationship
just one more loving gesture from Mom
*****
your words and prayers have touched my heart
filled me with love and hope
I am only sorry I can't hug you all in person

I Forgot...
I completely forgot about ordering this
cutter holder box from
the one I purchased is unfinished
still deciding what color to paint it...
it's exactly what I've been wanting
nice and heavy so it won't tip over
deep enough for lots of wool
now to get back to my hooking
***
had a nice visit with Dad this morning
of course he is full of
complaints
which means he's feeling much better
now to get him to
work on his therapy

More or Less
naturally dyed Easter eggs
color and more color
less color
still inspiring
monochromatic
my favorite color scheme
Do you have trouble choosing the right colors
for you projects?
for me choosing the color isn't usually the problem
it's more color
or less color...
soothing or exhilarating?
a wonderful dilemma
+ + + + + + +
today is a day of rest for me
at least before work
I'll be on the couch
just thinking about color
yesterday was a very long day
until 10 PM...
Dad was transferred to the
skilled nursing facility
for rehab...hooray!
but he's had a huge increase in confusion
during the middle of the day
that seems so weird
normally you would expect sundown
hoping it's a side effect of medicines
they started and stopped in hospital
broke my heart in a a million tiny pieces
to leave him there last night
we agreed that the count down is on
for him to do his therapy
and get back home
thanks again for your prayers
and emails
they are greatly appreciated

A Small Goal
antique little quilt
my goal this week is to create one of my own
at least the patchwork part
no promises on the quilting
going for very simple this week
another photo found on Pinterest
katie swim bike quilt
this is on my to-do list too
I already have the nine patch ready!
for rug hooking I've been thinking houses...
lots of houses...
# # # # #
thanks for all your kind words and thoughts
regarding my parents...
you know I see so many patients
at work with no one
Dad is doing better today
still more confused than usual
happy to have him in the hospital
getting plenty of attention

Anyway
I've been busy lately
with family fun and issues
still using my little free time
to look over Pinterest
finding things that make me laugh
or think
my Melrose would love this
never, ever forget this
sad but true
also very true

hoping to return to normal blogging soon!

Two Special Quilts
of
An American Primitive Gathering
on eBay
surprised me with this
incredible quilt for my birthday
last week
every stitch is a treasure
thanks again ladies
by hand last year
for my sister Judy
when our other sister
Deb saw it
she wanted one too
so Mom is
working on one for her
after I started teasing Mom
was really making it for me...
you guessed it
I'm next in line for one
she is looking forward
to using
plenty of the
Looking Back
fabric in it
