Small Quilts

work truly kicked my butt last week
between that and Dr appointments I didn't feel like hooking
so I grabbed the scrap basket
cutting strips for some log cabin pieces

the plan is to machine piece
not my favorite
am going to work on improving my patience for it

these top 2 pics are some favorite Cheri designs...

the next two are from an etsy seller

 another perfectly simple Cheri design

I'm still cutting up scraps
in between cleaning/organizing the sewing room
and napping
it's a perfect day for napping

wishing you a safe and happy Saturday!

Kindness of Strangers

You deserve a HUGE hug...

Thank you so very much
for making the Chip In for
Cindy's Boys
an amazing success...

it was going to run a few more weeks
but as I've collected over $850
for them
it's been ended early...
so many others need help too

I'll give you the grand total
once all the checks have arrived
from $1 to $100
each donation is an absolute blessing...

I can hardly wait to give it to them
looks like it will be next Saturday

Again
Thank You
more than you know...

cutting out a few patches
like these antique ones found on eBay

only one red one
for my little 6 block quilt

Happy Sunday!

Ideas

another image found on Pinterest
log cabin blocks are a favorite
going through my fabric
cutting strips for a small scrappy quilt
simple shapes
will translate nicely to a hooked rug
you know I see this
with a cat
in the center

Thank you ever so much
for your generosity in
helping Cindy's Boys...
I think they will be very surprised!

My plan is to give the money to their aunt
and let her help them decide how best to use it...
they are still boys after all

Sneaky Sneaky

Mom and I have been stitching a secret present

for my sister Deb for her birthday this year

it's one with a "0" on the end so it deserves special notice...

I've been sending her emails with

little sneak peeks since it won't be completed

in time to make it for her special day

right now it's at the quilters

we can't wait to see how it turns out...

hand pieced and hand appliqued

it took up most of my free time

for two months and then some...

Mom did the applique and I did the rest

except for about 20 little squares

from Loretta who want to help

(she is not a stitcher!)...

my other sister will be providing

the $ for quilting and shipping...

we make a good team

In a few weeks I'll be able to share

the finished quilt with you...

my only regret is not buying

more of that large red Moda print

(top row of 1st photo)

so if you have any you'd be

willing to part with let me know...

Empty Baskets

My wool worm baskets

are finally empty!

only because
I dumped everything on a table

been hooking rugs again...
there are eight
in progress right now

three others needing binding
been using mostly strips
that are already cut
only cutting for backgrounds
if needed...

Now it's time to organize the
mess the strips became

time once again organize by color...
and post photos of "after"

~might take a few days~

Chester never gets his way

at least that's what he thinks...

Mom stitched me a few blocks...

Am waiting for one more

and I'll make a little quilt

She isn't in the mood to
make a whole quilt...
but blocks are another story!

As always, lucky me

Moms' Been Busy & New Mystery Package

The color isn't coming out right...but you get the idea...
Mom is working on a new quilt for Deb
and it's from the Ladybird, Ladybird book by Jan Patek
long out of print unless it's been reprinted...

A few changes of course...love the dark blue bird...
the next block is going to be Miss Jump from
Linda Brannock...
definitely a OOAK quilt

Quilt Blocks and No Buy

the nine patch blocks are going together nicely with the alternating blocks...one more row to stitch before they go together then a narrow red border and a pieced wide one...other than a handful of the smaller squares this quilt has been made from my stash of fabrics that's been around here for years...and of course it hasn't made a dent...

in the past month or so I've been buying books and fabric again and have added to the stash...so I set today as the date for a 6 month No Buy on supplies for of things handmade...I think books are going to be the hardest to resist...

and if I happen to fall off the No Buy wagon then I'll make a donation equal to my purchase to this wonderful organization:

www.modestneeds.typepad.com

Chester hopped on the footstool to see what I was doing and got distracted by a bird flying by outside...if it was a chipmunk out there we'd be seeing his tail in the picture...
