Decisions in the Sewing Room

saw this image on Pinterest
I have the pattern
have had the pattern for ever it seems
will I ever use the pattern
probably not

it's going into the "maybe sell" pile

for now I've been finishing hooked rugs
all those mats hooked
over the past few months
I like the finishing work
except signing them
I do it in stitches with pearle cotton

Happy Friday!

The Goode Huswife

over the years
I purchased many counted cross stitch patterns
to adapt to rug hooking
if not stitching

 going through my stash recently
I dug out these 3 out of print charts
making me wish
my eyes were still good for this sort of stitching
the charts are no problem
it's the linen!

this has long been my favorite...

Soon to be listed on eBay

Saturday Puttering

I have ignored this closet for far too long
some things untouched for years!

I want to paint it
since that won't be happening soon
figured at least I could clean it out

so today I'm alternating between cleaning
hooking little simple pieces
(about 6 x 6)
preparing invoices for my booklets...

tomorrow I will take the designs to make copies

back to the closet
it used to be worse
over time I have used up many bottles of polish and cleaners
shampoo, hand lotion

but the light bulbs!
they never seem to end
my parents had enough for the whole neighborhood
I have been placing all "like" things together
so brought another 15 packages
of light bulbs in from the garage
will check and see if they work then donate

Hope your having a wonderful day
this morning it was cool and breezy
with windows open
I could hear all the chimes Mom had around the house
of course it made me smile

Decluttering Continues

going through my belongings is not tough
sorting through a lifetime
of my parents belongings is another story
and I'm not all that sentimental

I can't just toss perfectly usable items
they must be donated or given away

this is my holding station
box for books
lots of recycling
shoes of moms to donate
(after I dust and polish them)

I've already donated
clothes, more clothes, household items
quilt fabric
you name

I set stuff at the end of the drive
I take things to work

*****

so how do you like that bucket bench?
it's the one my local sister gave to recently
it's antique prim perfection

those  knotty pine walls drive me nuts
one day they will be a dusty white...

*****
that pattern I mentioned yesterday
still MIA
I know I had it recently
put it away somewhere safe...

Happy 4th!
I work tonight and tomorrow
praying for no fireworks vs hand injuries...

Never Give Up

my house is getting very tidy this weekend
I have been searching for a pattern
for 2 days...
because it's the only thing I want to hook

a Lori Brechlin/ Not Forgotten Farm design

this was Sherry's version
isn't it absolute prim perfection

I know I could draw it up on my own
but I must find the pattern...
I'm not normally very OCD
but I know it's here somewhere

in the mean time
I've gotten most of my patterns organized
by type or designer
I've labelled the folders, baskets and containers
made a list of what and where
that's hanging in my sewing room

but still the pattern eludes me...

wish me luck
I'm going back in

Stash Reduction

I've listed a few

rug hooking
items on eBay
this morning...

Some my better stash!

There's been some
hooking
&
stitching
going on around here lately

but even more decluttering!

There may be a good reason for it too
...
I'll find out tomorrow night

Some of you have noticed
the header photo
has been changing
every few days

It's been nearly a year
without Chester
looking back over
all the photos I have
of him
brings lots of smiles
and a few tears...

Once in a while
I think Olivia still looks for him

usually over her shoulder
at the food dish
when she has a
real treat

The color isn't coming out right...but you get the idea...
Mom is working on a new quilt for Deb
and it's from the Ladybird, Ladybird book by Jan Patek
long out of print unless it's been reprinted...

A few changes of course...love the dark blue bird...
the next block is going to be Miss Jump from

Those Old Blue Fabrics

Finally decided to use this pattern for making a quilt from those old indigo and cadet blue fabrics, the Patchwork Garden pattern wasn't turning out the way I wanted in those colors...it's a version of the Gazing Ball pattern my sister Deb has made quilts from...can't decide whether to do the stars or backgrounds in blue...am leaning towards the backgrounds...
While checking out quilting blogs I ran across this site: http://www.liberty-star.com/ ( be sure to check out her block and her pictures too)...have always enjoyed her patterns and have more than a few in my collection...the Give Me Liberty quilt is one I don't have but seeing it made me root through my collection to find the This Star Will Guide Me pattern...very similar...

this pattern I do have and have wanted to make for ages...pink and brown and birds...a perfect combination...
